We know… we’re thinking it, too! But longtime Nuggeteers also know that we don’t make any decisions lightly. And we’re deeply committed to transparency.
So, why the change?
- The world, and more specifically, the world of play furniture has shifted significantly.
- We have to adapt and meet customers where they are in order to continue growing!
- We’ve spent more than ten years building a brand that’s now strong enough to support a sale without having to compromise our non-negotiable values.

The play couch landscape: 2025 vs. 2014
When we invented The Original Play Couch™, The Nugget® was the first and only one on the market. Today, there are many play couches and “nuggets” to choose from — including options at lower price points, and others that are artificially marked up in order to promote aggressive discounts.
We still think the principles that define our brand really matter: thoughtful and intentional design; using high quality, certified materials; submitting our products for extensive play and safety testing; and working with responsible manufacturing partners. And we think they matter to you, too — so we’re not compromising on them. But in order to stay competitive in a more crowded landscape, we can’t get in our own way, especially during Black Friday.
Families are being stretched more than ever
This holiday season feels different — budgets are tighter, everyday costs are higher, and families are being extra thoughtful about every dollar. Parents want gifts that are high quality, long lasting, open ended, and fun.
We want as many families as possible to experience the real Nugget®, and offering our first-ever Holiday Sale is one way we can support customers during a time when value and affordability matter more than ever.

In the early days, our business and our team simply couldn’t support discounting our products without risking missteps or compromising quality. Today, thanks to smartly scaled operations and responsible growth, we’re able to rub our tummy and pat our head at the same time — we can offer a discount, while still delivering the high-quality product you expect, and remain unwavering in our commitment to our core values, including fair compensation and our team’s well-being.
Growth sometimes looks like changing course
We hope it’s clear from this blog post that we didn’t reach this decision overnight, and that we’re excited to be able to offer a promotion that supports both our community and the long-term health of our brand.
