Yay! You found us! (Quick round of high fives.) We’re Nugget®. We invented the iconic Nugget® play couch, but we’re also the playful purveyors of the Chunk® play ottoman and Smore™ play chair, too!

How it started (and how it’s going!)

We launched this company in 2014 with the goal of designing a better futon, but we quickly realized we’d invented something a whole lot more fun: furniture you can play with!

Play furniture — real furniture that’s really, really playwithable™ — was born. We never could have imagined that a decade later, we’d have sold more than a million Nuggets.

Our mission is to grow imaginations through thoughtfully designed, infinitely fun kids’ play furniture. In 2024, we released Chunk®, The World’s First Play Ottoman™ to great fanfare. Then we did it again with Smore™ in 2026, introducing a play chair to the Nuggetverse.

What we believe

We believe every kid is the most creative person on Earth.

And if you give a creative person the right building blocks (preferably soft, colorful ones!), you’ll fuel imagination, creativity, and open-ended play.

Nugget® play furniture offers toy minimalism for Play Maximalism. With more than 60,000 five-star ratings and a bunch of awards, we’re not the only ones who think so!

How we work

We’re constantly inspired by kids’ ability to perceive the world not just as it is, but how it could be. That’s why we’re always growing our own imaginations about the role our business plays in our community.

To date, we’ve donated $1 million+ to partner organizations, supporting causes like racial equity, civic engagement, and public education.

We’re proud to be an American manufacturer and a part of North Carolina’s rich furniture legacy. Every piece of Nugget® play furniture is hand assembled at our 100,000 square foot-headquarters (which you might’ve seen on social!) in Butner, North Carolina.
