Meet a Nuggeteer: Daron
Daron, our Warehouse Operator, keeps our gigantic factory organized, tidy, and ready to create Nuggets for Nuggeteers around the country! In this edition of Meet a Nuggeteer, Content Manager Allie chatted with Daron about Nugget’s entrepreneurial spirit, his love of anime, and the best book he’s read recently.
Daron, can you describe your job in a way that kids ages 1 to 101 can understand?
I keep the warehouse organized. When shipments of fabric come in, I’m the first person to check it in, put it where it needs to go, and record that we got it. Kind of like when you get home from the grocery store — you need to put everything in the right place to know what ingredients you have to work with, right? I keep our foam, our fabrics, everything organized so we know exactly what we have and what we need.
I started on the Production Team, doing whatever needed to be done, like unloading trucks, unwrapping and prepping our foam, loading trucks… now, I’m putting that knowledge to work as the Warehouse Operator! Gotta keep everything running smoothly.
What’s the best part of your job?
The people! I love being able to work with a great group of people in an amazing environment. I’ve been with Nugget since the move to Butner in October 2020. My favorite memory so far is the recent staff event, the Spring Fling, where I just got to get acquainted with everyone.
What’s your favorite Nugget color?
Green is my favorite color so I have to say Cactus. I am eyeing Snorkel for my next color, although my daughter really likes purple, so maybe it will be Potion.
Growing up, what were your favorite books and toys?
I loved the Bailey School kids series, those were my favorite books. There were so many of them! And toys, definitely the Ninja Turtles. Leonardo was my favorite, I definitely dressed up as him for Halloween.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I work on my businesses — I have my car dealers license and am also starting up a clothing line — and, to relax, I like to read. I read a lot of business books, but overall, anything that captures a good story. I just read Shoe Dog, about the founder of Nike, and that was really good. I told David [Nugget’s CEO] that’s gotta be next on his list! The thing in that story that really got me is how, that first trip to Japan to learn more about the industry, no one wanted him to go, not his family, grandparents, no one. But it really was what kicked off the whole business. If you never take that leap of faith as an entrepreneur, you won’t know what could happen. The first time I came in to see Nugget, I thought, wow, there’s something here. That leap of faith.
Alright, last question for you: dream Nugget color and why?
Easy: a Naruto themed one. I love anime, and Naruto is such a good story. Growing up, he was a loner, but he always wanted to be the village leader, the Hokage. He was the least skilled, but he put in the hard work, and fast forward, he saved the village. A lot of the time, people see the rewards but not the effort. I love anime stories where characters know what they want, they work hard, and they achieve it.
We are so lucky to have Daron on the team. Thanks for making life just a little bit more Nuggety!
