Talk Starters: Not your average book club

Welcome to the Talk Starters book club: a new chapter for our Black Futures work here at Nugget!

We all know kids ask some tough questions, and it can be tough to know how to respond — especially when those questions are about skin color, racism, or diversity.

In partnership with A Kids Co., this free online book club will show you how to use books and storytime to spark meaningful conversations about race.

Upcoming events

Our next livestream meet-up will feature A Kids Co. authors Stephen Green and Edmund “Mundo” Holmes, as we explore their book, A Little Book About Family — designed to help young kids understand and celebrate how families can look different from one another. Join us to chat with the authors, hear other caregivers’ questions, and get answers you can use with the kids in your life.

Be sure to let us know if you’re coming — and if you can’t find the book at your library, order your own copy today!

Celebrating Black Futures year-round

We’re working toward the goal of racial equity and inclusion in our business and in our society — toward a future where all children (and grownups) can experience the comfort and freedom to grow their imaginations.

For years, Nugget’s annual Black Futures efforts have worked to amplify Black voices, hold space for Black joy, and support organizations prioritizing play, prosperity, and potential for Black people. Tap below to read more about our Black Futures work!
