It’s been a year to remember at Nugget, and as we approach our most expansive release ever, we thought it would be a good time to reflect. We’ve boiled the year down to seven statistics that illustrate (get it?) just how far we’ve come, and hint at how far there is to go.
Without further ado, here are the numbers that define our 2019.
If you reached out to us with a question this year via firstname.lastname@example.org and talked to Claire, Hannah, Ryan, or David, yours was one of more than 30,000 that we replied to. That's a lot of tickets — enough to sell out Carnegie Hall ten times over!
Our site visitors quintupled this year, thanks in part to a number of particularly big days, like Black Friday (100,000 visitors). Is that an important day or something?
For years, Canadians have been telling us (politely) to get our big orange boxes over the border. In 2019, we finally did. That means more than 30 million new people who get to take part in the Nugget fun. On launch day, we celebrated with a full team breakfast featuring bacon, pancakes, a lot of plaid, and of course, poutine.
It would be hard to make the case that any number on this list is more important than this one. 2019 is the year Nugget was able to offer health insurance to the entire company, thanks to a ton of support from customers new and old. This is just the start — we're committed to finding and implementing programs and benefits that make sure that as we take care of customers all over the U.S. and Canada, we're taking care of our team, too.
This summer, we got the news that Inc. Magazine had named us the 159th fastest-growing company in America, and the fifth fastest-growing company in North Carolina, based on our revenue growth between 2015 and 2018 (2,392%)! That's a lot of change in just a few short years, but nothing explains it quite like the next number...
You may have heard us talk about "scaling to meet the new level of demand" next year. Does 100,000 square feet sound like enough scale? Believe it or not, our 2020 HQ will be able to fit our 2016 workspace into it roughly 50 times.
And finally, the big one — the number of Nuggets that went to homes, daycares, kids' museums, classrooms, and more this year, thanks to your support, and the hard work of our team at HQ. This is a crazy, scary, exciting and overwhelming number for a team of less than 25 people. It's bananas, actually. We can't believe the support we've received, and based on recent sellouts at every release, it seems the Nugget fun is still only just beginning.
We're so grateful to have you on this ride of imagination, creativity and play. It's wild and unpredictable and heartwarming and funny, and we wouldn't have it any other way. 2020, here we come.
