2023, By the Numbers
Our 10th year of growing imaginations has been such a fun ride here at Nugget HQ! We hit some major milestones (1,000,000 Nuggets sold!), continued our quest to deliver the best play couch experience possible, and of course, prioritized play along the way. Pop some confetti and don a party hat — we’re celebrating 2023 in style!
1,000,000 (and counting!) — The number of Nuggets we’ve officially sold since our founding. That’s enough Nuggets to cover the coast-to-coast distance from the westernmost point to the easternmost point in the continental U.S… (and have nearly 7,000 Nuggets leftover). Hop in our Dunebuggy for the return trip; we're already well on our way!
$1,000,000 — With your help, we officially surpassed $1 million in philanthropic donations in 2023, in both cash and in-kind offerings. This year’s recipients included 51 teachers + classrooms across the country in our 50 States of Play back-to-school giveaway team-up with tonies®, MAGNA-TILES®, and Once Upon A Farm™. We also donated more than $33,000 to the Campaign for Southern Equality with our June 2023 Cover Club initiative, and more than $14,000 to Green Chair for Giving Tuesday (the day we crossed the exciting $1 million threshold!) — an organization that furnishes homes and supports families in need. We are so grateful for the support of our partner organizations and Nuggeteers like you for helping us achieve this giving milestone.
11 minutes — Our stopwatch reading when the first Mini Nugget drop sold out. We packed tons of big ways to play into this fun-sized play couch, and y’all were here for it. We restocked a few weeks later, and sold out again. It turns out we’re not the only ones who like to think (and play!) big AND small.
5,287.5 — Cups of coffee consumed by our Product Design team in the three years since our last major product update. What can we say? We’ll never stop in our quest to give you the perfect play couch experience, complete with a sleeker zipper, zipper garage, and stronger handle.
9 — The number of candles on our birthday cake this year. In true childlike spirit, we started celebrating our 10th year of growing imaginations the day after we turned nine! We released a commemorative edition Nugget in our signature playful orange, we doubled our warranty to cover two years of play (the best warranty on the play couch market!), and we uttered the phrase “Orange you glad to be a Nuggeteer?!” approximately 822 times until our voices were hoarse.
67 — Average number of tasks y’all were able to cross off your to-do lists before removing Nuggets from their Big Orange Boxes. In November, we announced that all Nuggets can remain boxed for up to eight weeks after delivery! We spent more than 1,500 hours across three months performing rigorous compression tests on our high-quality foam (the same kind we've always used!), and we were thrilled to confidently increase our recommended time for unboxing. Just doing our part to make gifting a little easier.
2,359 — The number of guesses we spotted on Instagram as Nuggeteers near and far tried to decipher our elaborate Magical Mystery Clue Hunt to help debut our Dragonfly Nugget. Super Sleuths, we tip our detective hats to you.
489,346 — The total number of possible color combinations you can create using our gorgeous Compare Colors tool, which got a big upgrade this fall! This digital tool now lets you play with our color swatches to find the perfect color combo for you — with up to four different Nugget colors, both current and retired.
9 — Average number of comments per Nuggeteer who told us they’d totally buy a Chicken Nugget Nugget if we sold them for real. Yes, the Chicken Nugget Nugget was our 2023 April Fool’s practical yolk, and no, we didn’t sell it — but we did make some snack time cravings come true when we made a handful of Chicken Nugget Nugget Cover Sets to give away to 15 lucky Nuggeteers!
10,000 – The approximate number of times we smashed the “like” button on Instagram posts featuring colorful rainbow builds y’all made with our releases of staple colors like Lemonade, Nuggeteer, and Moonshot. We introduced a total of seven Nugget colors this year, and we bid farewell to eight colors and six collaboration Nuggets headed into retirement. We’ve got lots planned for the year ahead!

A quick logistical note: We’ll be away from the office and production floor from December 23 to January 2 for our annual holiday break. We are giving our entire team this time off to rest, play, and grow their own imaginations with their loved ones. The build-up to the holidays is a very busy and intense time of year — especially in the retail industry. We take this intentional break every year to encourage our team to get away from work and do whatever they enjoy most. All new Nugget orders will ship first thing when we return in January.
