2024 was a HUGE year at Nugget — a year Packed with Possibilities™. We released a major new product, we yelled “HOORAY!” until we were hoarse, we went Mega, and we went Mini. Join us for a quick roll through our biggest moments of 2024 — by the numbers.
5: The number of times we hid photos of Chunk in the background of our Instagram photos and videos before we unveiled… The World’s First Play Ottoman™! Five also stands for the fifth month of the year, hereby always known at Nugget as Chunk Munth. It’s beyond exciting to have this new piece of stylish playroom furniture — our very own foam ottoman! — out in the wild.
825,763: The number of high fives exchanged at HQ this year, probably. We couldn’t feel more proud and humbled to see Chunk listed among TIME Magazine’s 200 Best Inventions of 2024 — “innovations changing how we live,” according to TIME. We’ve blushed and cheered every time our work won an award this year: Chunk also won Domino’s Good Design Award, as well as PureWow’s Happy Kid Award (a list naming Chunk as one of the best toys and games for kids in 2024!). And Nugget® was also in the spotlight — winning the coveted Good Housekeeping’s 2024 Parenting Award. BRB, clearing some space on our shelves for these new honors!
67*: The number of Nuggeteers at HQ who appeared in our social posts celebrating Orange Fri-Yays! Every Friday this November, we revealed a fun new surprise to Nuggeteers: BIG new products to shop (hi, Bluey x Nugget!), fun little surprises (box stickers! Mini Nugget®!), a Nuggety (literally) Cover Club, and the rare return of some of your favorite retired colors via the Mystery Cover Set shopping option. We hope you yelled “YAY!” a LOT this November.

168: There are so many (168, to be exact!) iconic Bluey episodes, and it’s impossible to pick a favorite — IYKYK. Our Bluey Nugget design captured a few fave games instead — Chattermax, the Gnomes, the Magic Xylophone, a Keepy Uppy balloon, and (of course) Magic Asparagus. Did you know we were dropping super subtle hints as early as July about the Bluey Nugget (hi, Sleepytime episode!)?! We tried to calculate the number of times we’ve said to each other “For real life!” over the past few months, but the calculator wouldn’t go that high.
43: A lot of math goes into creating a mega piece of play furniture. As soon as we launched Chunk™, our brilliant product design team got to work designing a supersized version — cue Mega Chunk rolling into Nugget HQ! It’s 43x the size of a regular living room-sized Chunk (the same jumbo proportions as the Mega Nug).
4,379: The number of times you liked and shared our post announcing the return of the Mini Nugget®! Special shout out to our stunt RC truck driver. Mini Nugget flew off our shelves in 2023, and we decided to bring it back in a BIG way — by releasing it in five of our favorite bright colors! Nuggeteers can all agree: miniature play for mega imaginations is a must.
42: There were 42 possible word combinations in the August 22 edition of the Spelling Bee in the New York Times Games app… but there was only one perfect pangram, and that was CHUNKED! The little ottoman that could, making it all the way to the paper — er, the games app of record. Mere weeks later, our group text lit up again when Connections featured “NUGGET” and “BUNDLE” among its word groups. If you’re an avid Games aficionado, you’ll also note the best play furniture around also graced the grid of Strands in October — with “ottoman” and “sofa” hidden on the board. 780: On average, Nuggeteers hit up our DMs 780 times a year to request a rainbow Nugget. We can’t blame you — our favorite color is “all of them.”? This year, we made those dreams come true with our original design for Paintbox! We also released a total of ten new colors and designs this year: Blossom, Bellbottom, Juicebox, Limelight, Paintbox, Picnic, Seamonster, Penny, Camelot, and Bluey.
$115,000+: Inspiring imaginative play is at the core of our mission, but families can’t do that if their needs aren’t met and their rights are at risk. This year, we partnered with some incredible nonprofits to support causes and grow imaginations in our own backyard:
- $10k to Beloved Asheville and Manna Food Bank in the wake of Hurricane Helene, which devastated western North Carolina
- $10k to Campaign for Southern Equality during Pride Month to protect the rights of LGBTQIA+ families, friends, and neighbors
- $10k to MDC, a nonprofit working to address education inequities across North Carolina
- $25k during Nugget’s Path to the Polls campaign, which championed the work of You Can Vote NC to educate and empower voters
- $60k pledged to Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh, NC to encourage kids to explore STEAM concepts through hands-on play and learning
- 375+ nearly perfect Nuggets donated to local classrooms in the greater Raleigh-Durham area
16: Number of times we sang-yelled the word “SWATCH!” in our Nugget TikTok announcement video for Fabric Swatches. (Lil Jon’s got nothing on our skills.) For the first time, Swatches gave Nuggeteers a chance to feel our fabrics and test drive our colors before buying. BTW — finished with your swatches? Think again! A quick logistical note: We’ll be away from the office and production floor from December 24 to January 1 for Nugget's annual holiday break. We give our entire team this time off to rest, play, and grow their own imaginations with their loved ones. The build-up to the holidays is a very busy and intense time of year — especially in the retail industry. We take this intentional break every year to encourage our team to get away from work and do whatever they enjoy most. All new Nugget orders will ship first thing when we return in January.
